Protecting children from pornography

How can we protect our children from watching

pornography?

Explicit entertainment is a realistic show of human sexuality that can be followed  as far back as some indication of knowledge. Explicit entertainment gives individual a solid approach to investigate their sexuality, and others contend that erotic entertainment is  the base of all underhanded, and it must be wiped out totally.

Does Smartphones and computers  have a negative impact in exposing children from pornography?

These new devices of smartphones and computers, they do have a negative impact to the children from watching pornography. Because children are able to access internet using their different devices , whether it’s intentionally digging out inappropriate websites, or stumbling across websites or content, many children are seeing, reading and viewing matter that they know is only meant for adults. Moreover, the study shows many children also confess to having already got in trouble with parents and teachers for accessing websites on their mobile phones they knew they shouldn’t have been looking at.The number of Children watching ‘online videos or video clips’ on their mobile phones has more than doubled from 15 per cent in 2008 to 36 per cent.  With the majority not having any restrictions in place, this leaves them exposed to an inappropriate content.Parents are being warned to monitor their children's use of smartphones as new research suggests different numbers of youngsters  who have used them to access illicit pictures and videos.Only 13 per cent of children have security settings installed on their devices, this compares with 44 per cent having parental restrictions on their home computers and laptops while 84 per cent of children's home computers had anti-virus software.

The convention rights of children to pornography.

Considering  that the Convention on the Rights of the Children, recognizes the right of the child to be protected from economic exploitation and from performing any work that is likely to be more dangerous or to interfere with the child's education to be harmful to the child's health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.Seriously  concerned at the significant and increasing international traffic in children for the purpose of the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography.Deeply concerned at a widespread and continuing practice of sex tourism, to which children are especially vulnerable, as it directly promotes the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography, the Optional protocol on the rights of child.

Recognizing that a number of particularly vulnerable groups, including girl children, are at a greater risk of sexual exploitation and that girl children are disproportionately represented among the sexually exploited. The growing availability of child pornography on the Internet and other evolving technologies, and recalling the International Conference on Combating Child Pornography on the Internet, held in Vienna in 1999, in particular its conclusion calling for the worldwide criminalization of the production, distribution, exportation, transmission, importation, intentional possession and advertising of child pornography, and stressing the importance of closer cooperation and partnership between Governments and the Internet industry.

Parents being worried about their children watching pornography.

Urban parents are very much concerned, that pornography may disturb or create a negative impact on their children. And parents recommend that internet officials should block pornography websites or links from the age of 9 -19. Because children always want to try everything that they see with their eyes.Parents'' said ''

  1. Your research has raised my concern on this issue. I have always seen it as a negative impact on our young ones as it influences their daily lives. As a result young boys get into the habit of objectifying women. Girls are vulnerable and this is indeed a concern to parents. In conclusion. Cyber security regarding pornography should be reviewed and enhanced

  2. I strongly recommend that the government devise techniques that prevent access... there has to be a way, in the ever so developing world of tech, there has to be a program that can be developed that can stop or prevent underage endulging of porn.

    1. I strongly agree that the government should come up with a way to make children realize that, watching pornography is harm. Because the government implemented an organisation which is the convention rights of children.

I think it is not enough for parents to monitor their children's devices at home especially because the explicit material is so easily available anywhere, so it should be forced upon internet service providers to make such material unavailable to children because the more they are exposed, the more it becomes normal and acceptable to them

    1. And parents do not have that much power to stop children from accessing internet, i support your opinion that the service provider of the inernet should at least block pornography websites while children are trying to to an access to it.

    1. How it is impossible? I personally think that it is possible to stop children from watching pornography on internet. Because the service provider of internet is able to block websites and unblock them.

  5. Your research is spot on...and I feel Cyber security on Pornography is a one of the issues that people have turned a blind eye on. It demoralizes women, promotes negative behavior and influence towards the young generation of males in particular. I also strongly agree that the Government should intervene and do something before our young generation became immoral like the Americans.
